Robotics Team Presents at FWP County Fair

10/7/2016

On October 7, 2016 our school held its County Fair.  Each year at the fair each grade hosts one or more booths. These booths range from popcorn and cotton candy to mini golf and robotics. In the past, we have typically run Vex Kit robots. We would typically spend two weeks of our season building these robots and not learning anything related to the FTC build systems and electronics systems. Therefore, this year we decided to make 4 FTC robots. We built a tank bot, omni robot, and two mecanum robots, which were detailed in yesterday's entry.
We allowed kids (and some adults) of all ages to drive the robots on this year’s FTC field. The kids had a blast and the parents loved it. While the kids played, we talked to parents about FIRST, about robotics and about how their kids can get involved with robotics. This was very successful as many parents were interested in getting their kids involved in robotics.
