2017 - 18: FIRST Tech Challenge Relic Recovery

Our robot is a fully custom CNC'd bot. It is made out of mainly HDPE white and blue/white plastic. The clear plastic is Polycarbonate. There are 48 independent components on the robot (minus electronics, motors and screws) and 44 of these components were made by us in house. The four off the shelf components are the two intake wheels on the front and the two metal omni wheels.

Autonomous: Fully 85 points
  1. Read vision target
  2. Drop arm and knock correct jewel off of platform
  3. Navigate over to cryptobox and score glyph. On the way there we occasionally collect a second glyph
Driver Controlled: Complete a cypher
  1. We spend the two minutes completing a frog cypher
  2. Depending on time:
    1. Get back on balancing stone
    2. Continue filling our partners box

Collector
  • Four REV Core Hex Motors
  • Two blue compliant wheels with a durometer of 55A
  • Oscillates back and forth during collection to aid with glyph intaking
Drive Train
  • Back Wheels are custom CNC'd HDPE wheels
  • Direct drive with 64-1 Andymark Sport Gearbox
